The 2004 Summer Cruise started with a Monday night stay at the private Shelter Bay Marina near La Conner and an open house at the new home of Al and Mary Eiffert. Tuesday morning, seven boats departed Shelter Bay and traveled north up the Swinomish Channel, across Rosario Strait and through Thatcher Pass to Blakely Island. On Wednesday we left Blakely Island and traveled westward through Harney Channel and Pole Pass to Stuart Island.  As we neared Stuart Island, rain on the horizon convinced two boats to head to Friday Harbor so only five boats ended up at Reid Harbor. The rain quickly passed and we enjoyed a hike to the Turn Point Lighthouse and then dinner on the dock. Thursday morning we took a dinghy tour around Reid Harbor before making the short trip to Roche Harbor.  At Roche Harbor we were joined by new members Jack and Rose Hart on Willimatt and Gary and Jeannie Moen on Choices.  On Friday, an incoming storm convinced us to forego our planned anchorage at Garrison Bay and get across Rosario Strait while the water was still calm.  The winds were just starting to blow when the last boats tied up at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes. From Anacortes three boats made the short trip to La Conner for a Saturday night stay before heading for home on Sunday.  Here are a few pictures from the summer cruise.
